Our Russian Friends.

I have missed a few days again, but with the lovely sunshine, and neighbours arriving for summer its been rather hectic to say the least. And when our Russian friends arrive, well! it really hots up.They remind me of a whirlwind................all excited and happy to be back in their Bulgarian Home.Slav,Vicki, and granddaughter Sasha arrive first and in a week or 2 Sasha's mum and dad.Its all go to get the house clean and the garden ship shape.Next week they will be off to the sea every day and this year we are going too.In the last 2 summers we have worked on the house but not this one ,no the seaside calls and we intend to answer!!

When Vicki arrives its a bit like having a sister here we get on really great and spend a lot of time chatting which is interesting because she speaks little English and I very little Russian,thank-goodness for hand signals. There all really great!!!!!!!!!

Bee',Bee's Bee's!!

If you don't know what a swarm of angry bee's looks like let me show you. These bee's were in our neighbor's garden and boy there were thousands, the noise from them was unbelievable!!you have to keep an eye on them because when they set off if you are in there way they chase and its pretty dangerous so if they start to move we get the dogs and go indoors.

Yambol Dog Shelter.

This afternoon we went to meet Christina the girl who volunteers at the well hidden Yambol dog shelter. What a going on the place is on the Rosa road in some old industrial building and before we even reached it we had to get a slip allowing us through the main gate, then following the bloke who takes care of the shelter for the company who own it we weaved round broken down building and arrived at a dilapidated block. The guy was pleasant enough and quite open about everything,it was a very run down building made up of pens in poor condition with a pallet on the floor for the dogs to sleep on,pretty basic I'm afraid but he did seem to be trying. To change opinions about dogs is a very slow process here and the Yambol major is one of the first to make killing a dog illegal unless it is suffering. We don't think it worth while working with this company in any financial way maybe as volunteers for the dogs sake to get them out for a walk, they have no fenced area to exercise and are permanently in the pens.Christina is going to find out how to set a charity up here so that you  can donate knowing your hard earned pennies are going to the cause!!!no pressure then.Anyone interested in giving a few hours please don't hesitate get in touch with me NOW!If you are in the Yambol area and want a puppy or adult dog the shelter has some lovely animals all neuted and vaccinated ready for you.

Its pool time again!!!

Eat your heart out England its pool time again!!the temp is high, let the fun begin.Unfortunately it is also snake time again not that we get bothered by them, well not until this year we have spotted 2 in the water feature David made last year.We will have to keep nosey Jazz away because the first year we were here he got bitten and was really ill, apart from that its just a case of being careful,"there more scared of us than we are of them" so people say, personally I don't agree!!!!If you look at the pictures you can just make out the snake,oh and our win exercising!

Gardening.

The weather here is lovely hot and sunny, but with no rain for quite a while dragging out the pipes to water the garden is a time consuming task we have to do every 2 days.We have now got strawberries, cucumbers, pea's, sweetcorn, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, lettuce, radish, peppers and of course gourd's growing in the veg plot and rather large hollyhocks in the flower garden donated by Emma our youngest daughter.yesterday we did our first gardening job clearing a garden quite a task but it keeps us fit!!!!Check out the baby peach tree.
