Spring blossom

Here we are lovely spring blossom,things are growing fast everything's changing.Today we got up and as per usual we had forgotten to alter the clocks again!!!!so were miffed when we found an hour less in the day because they go quick enough.Its raining here at the moment so an easy day is in store,if we manage to make it through without doing much it will be a first!!

Bench number 2.

What a lovely morning,its 7am and sunny guess spring is well and truly here!!yesterday we completed bench 2,its has become a real challenge the wood is all shapes and not easy to square up.Unfortunately David has that task and the air has been blue most of the day.We are going to need some better wood which is a task in its self,oh well we'll struggle on.Next step is a trip to Yambol to see if any of the gardening shops will take one now that will be a task with our Bulgarian!!Hum,think I may have over done this one.

Is this really the LAST!

 I know previously I said we were finished with the concreting WRONG!David found one more piece so yesterday we did it.what a relief...........the last 3 days have been glorious here in the 60's nearly shorts weather.

Delivery.

This may seem strange to the Tesco goer but today is a big day for a Kaufland shopper!!!We are having a delivery of proper(well as we know it)Bacon,Sausage,Cheese,Shredded Wheat,Bistro,and Tetley tea bags!!!!!!!sad I know but a real treat for us cos these are the thing we miss most food wise.Don't get me wrong we live ok without and our daughters send us the odd pack of home treats but just occasional its nice to indulge,don't you think!

We have started our next bench,the wood has been really rubbish,you cant get good stuff here so it takes ages to plane and sand but as you know we are used to this sort of thing.

The Prototype

Yes I know I'v been a bit lapsed,and missed a few days excuses yes a few,had a busy time looking after the Dinka's painting gourds and creating the first piece of garden furniture a 2 seater bench, the prototype for our new venture making good solid out door furniture.If you live in Bulgaria you will know how difficult it is to get well made furniture most is imported stuff and doesn't last 5 min's,so we are hoping our solid wood plain,stained and decorated if wanted will make us a steady stream of business fingers crossed .The weather is warming up here and everyone is out planting Cheren bop Black beans to you and me and Chesan garlic so its the get busy season.Summer's a coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marching On.

Well its mid March,still cold but warming up every day.Hope all you mums had a good Mothers Day here in Bulgaria they have a women's day about a week earlier,flowers are the norm a real favourite here they make some lovely flower arrangements.yesterday i went to the shop for the Dinka's got my wire's crossed and bought 3 loaves of bread (I though it was odd, a lot for them cos they had 2 already)anyway we have 3 loaves in the freezer now no problem!

Yambol road

Hello everyone I thought you might like to see how much snow we have piled up at the main crossroads on the way to Yambol.The roads are really bad after this winter pot holes all over and in town they are horrendous!!!

Feeding the Animals.

Helping Baba Dinka is going really well,reminds me of when I used to help my dad on our farm.Those were the days ah memories.We feed the chickens,and then the goat,who as ever was very noisy probably wondering who or what I was!!!anyway all's well the old gal is doing ok ,Dyado should be home Sunday hopefully.

Our Teddy Bear Winston.27thMarch(2008)

These are the first pictures of our Winston,we found him in a layby starving he was a very sorry sight.According to some friends he had been there for a week or so poor think a bony scarred pathetic thing.

Grandad Mitio.(Dyado Мitio) (дядо Митио)

This morning we were called round to Baba and Dyado Dinka's,poor dyado was waiting for his son to call to take him to the hospital he couldn't stand up because his legs had swollen and were giving him a lot of pain.Baba was distraught, things were not too good.The son's arrived from yambol it must have been difficult because the snow has not been cleared and the drifts are 3-4ft high,After some careful maneuvering we got him into the car and off they went.We walked down to the shop to get baba some bread and in sign and broken English asked if she had enough wood cut for the fire and that we would call later to make sure she was OK.So we have the hens, goat,and baba Dinka to look after for a week or so.Not that it bothers us they are 86 after all!

At last goodbye shed!!!its great to get stuck in on the removal of this ugly thing mind you it was well put together

Well its the 8th of march and look at the bloody weather,cant believe it!!!!!!It looks like we will need some more fire wood if this continues.Of course since the chimney fire we are reluctant to put a lot of wood on the pechka,so the house is a little on the cool side,it made use quite nervous.

The M.O.T

The M.O.T.this to my foreign readers is the yearly car check by the garage to state the vehicle is road worthy,a bit of a joke really.We took the van to the m.o.t.garage the guy came out checked the insurance was up to date went back in the office with David filled out a form,David payed 45lv..................that was it,oh yes i forgot we got a little sticker to say we were road worthy!!!!! now I don't know about other countries but in England hum!...........don't think so!!!

After the rain.

The thunder storms have gone and today the weather is very pleasant.Unfortunately the ground is sodden so no chance of putting garlic,black and white beans in to grow,when you walk on the veg patch your wellies pick up half the soil yuk!!its sticks like well...................... you can guess!anyway we have plenty to do preparing the wood for the garden benches we are going to make.We went into Yambol and bought a heavy weight soldering iron,to use to burn patterns in the wood gives a really good affect.So of to work we go.

David's the man!!(March2008)

Yes i have to admit it David's the man a lovely job of the kitchen,with help from his side kick labourer me of course.We had to wait a month for the kitchen,and its OK but the quality of furniture over here is not brilliant,hum! we will have to see how it fare's.

Working.

Well it really is time to think work,so over the last couple of days we have been concentrating on stock,our latest inventions are the gourd wind chime and bowl with engraved flower pattern and the first two have turned out pretty good.Today is wood day for our garden furniture, benches etc,plus dog houses and bird houses so we are going to be very busy,don't worry though i will find a little time to keep you lot informed.Should you like to purchase our products when we get some stock made I will put pictures on the blog.(large items delivered to Bulgarian addresses only sorry)Guess-what its just started throwing it down a proper storm,thunder wind etc.Yuk!!!!
